When it comes to decorating our Christmas tree, taking the DIY approach and making unique and interesting ornaments is always fun for us. I remember when the boys were younger and my tree was filled with handmade ornaments (Kids Christmas Craft – Box Of Love), and special school projects they would bring home at Christmas time. I cherish those memories and still try to put all of their kid creations on a small tree usually in the dining room so I can still enjoy them even though they are all grown up.
On the other hand now that they are all adults, that just means I can decorate and create my Christmas tree however I choose. In the last few years, I have gone with a rustic, farmhouse style Christmas tree. Adding fun decorations like Mini Reverse Canvas Ornaments and Rae Dunn Inspired Reindeer Christmas Bulbs. This year I wanted to make something simple, but still capturing that farmhouse style. I decided to make mini snow buckets. Using my Cricut Explore Air 2 and high-quality StyleTech Craft glossy vinyl, I had these mini galvanized buckets completed in no time. Farmhouse Style Christmas Ornaments, pretty white lights, and a warm Christmas cocktail are just a few things that make my heart happy during the holiday season.
Here is how you can make your own Farmhouse Style Christmas Ornaments
Supplies:
How to assemble:
Paint each bucket with the silver metallic craft paint, don't forget the handle. Do not try to be perfect, leave some streaks, even a few bare spots. This will mimic the galvanized look better than a solid paint job. Set aside to dry completely.
While the buckets are drying, turn to your Cricut cutting machine to create the farmhouse letters. I chose to make mine "Fresh Snow 25 cents"
Once the buckets are completely dry, use your StyleTech Craft Transfer Tape to apply the lettering to each bucket.
Add a blob of hot glue inside the bottom of the bucket and place a loose mound of the poly-fil inside to mimic the snow.
Hang them on your beautiful Farmhouse Style Christmas Tree and enjoy them for years to come!
What would you add to your mini galvanized bucket to give it that farmhouse feel? Would you add anything at all? Drop a note in the comments below and let me know!
